Studio Album

Release Date:
Mar 01, 1983

Label:
EMI

Vinyl, CD, Cassette

Notes:
The first album
Released on March 1st, 1983, Marillion waited before signing for EMI in order to have better production on the record. It had been preceded by three singles (Market Square Heroes, Garden Party and He Knows You Know) but Market was excluded from the album.

Cover
On the bed on the back cover are a copy of Kerrang (Issue 22) and Sounds (featuring Solstice on the front cover, from January 1983) as well as a copy of the Daily Mirror, a UK newspaper.
There are 4 records on the floor - Do You Dream In Color by Bill Nelson, A Saucerful of Secrets (the second album by Pink Floyd) as well as the 12" of He Knows He Know and the 7" version of Market Square Heroes.
The painting above the fireplace is based on 'Death Of Ophelia' by Sir John Millais
The posters on the wall are the two already-released Marillion singles (Market Square Heroes and He Knows You Know - also drawn by Mark Wilkinson)
Both the Chameleon and the Punch on the TV refer to songs already written but not yet released (She Chameleon and Punch and Judy). The lyrics in the violin case are 'Yesterday' by Paul McCartney

Album stuff
The newscaster's voice on Forgotten Sons was provided by actor Peter Cockburn.
