What a waste of time VAR is. But first, welcome to the new manager Nuno Espirito Santo. And now that's done, let's go back to VAR. Two terrible decisions went against us today and both were the fault of the ref and VAR. First, Willy Boly made a tackle in the 23rd minute and clearly got the ball, but the ref saw otherwise and showed a red card. No worries though...VAR will get it right. Right? Nope - it turns out that for a second yellow VAR can't overturn the ref's decision. What? How does that make sense? So Boly got a totally undeserved red card leaving us an hour to play with 10 men.
Then we get a perfectly good hand-ball decision on the edge of the area. VAR looks at and decide it's outside of the area. But they can't give a free kick there; VAR is only deciding if it's a penalty or not, so Bournemouth get away with that, too. The ref can't give a yellow or even a free kick. Sheesh.
We took the lead just after half-time with Alanga steering the ball into the far corner from a great Chris Wood layup, but Bournemouth equalized and then took the lead within 10 minutes. Chris Wood pulled one back with a great header into the top corner but 4 minutes into injury-time we let in their winner, leaving us just 2 points above relegation zone. We need some help from either Nuno, the Refs or VAR. And only one of them is on our side.
