PLAYER OF THE YEAR
Voted for by the fans at the end of each season, these are the winners of the Player Of The Year award.
First voted for in 1977 (and won by
Tony Woodcock), three players have won it twice (
Kenny Burns,
Nigel Clough and
Andy Reid) and two players have won it three times (
Des Walker and
Stuart Pearce).
One notable thing about Andy Reid's two wins are that they're ten years apart!
And, of course, there was
Joe Lolley's tweet after winning the 2019 award. He said:
'Thank you to all those who voted and also for your support this season, means a lot. Would also like to sincerely say thank you to absolutely none of my team mates, as this is an individual award, losers'.

Comparison With The Top GoalscorerSeeing as no forward has won the award for over 10 years, I thought I'd see if the Top Goalscorer was ever voted Player Of The Year.
So, here's the list again, with the top goalscorer for each season and it's interesting. Neither Ian Wallace, Stan Collymore, Lewis Grabban or Chris Wood took the honour, despite being top of the scorer's list multiple times.
Out of the 50 awards that have been handed out, only 10 were the top goalscorer for that season.
